Ait Ben Haddou is Morocco's best-preserved ksar — a fortified cluster of ochre-red earthen buildings on the old caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech, and a filming location for Gladiator, Game of Thrones and Lawrence of Arabia. This day trip crosses the Tizi n'Tichka pass, the highest paved road in the High Atlas, before a guided walk through the kasbah's mudbrick alleyways and up to the hilltop granary for the classic panoramic view.
